Before establishing Reno Wealth Advisors, an independent firm aligned with Raymond James in Reno, Nevada in 2012, Jim was a financial advisor at Edward Jones for twelve years, managing more than $74 million in client assets. He earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2007.

Prior to pursuing his career as a financial advisor, Jim taught high school English and served as an assistant football coach in Las Vegas. This experience taught him that listening is as important as the ability to teach. Jim graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1998.

An Eagle Scout, Jim understands the value of serving in the community. He sits on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows. Jim is the co-chairman of the investment committee, and is also a member of the finance committee.

Jim is a board member of the Estate Planning Council of Northern Nevada. he is also a Professional advisor to the Community Foundation of Western Nevada as well as to the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation. Jim is the president of the UNR Planned Giving Round table of Northern Nevada.

Jim's true passion is coaching. He has been the head coach of a Washoe Little League baseball team for the past six seasons. He is also the head coach of a softball team in Sierra Girls Softball League. Jim also managed two basketball teams at the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows this past winter. He enjoys being a positive role model for children in the community.

Jim and his wife, Erin, enjoy traveling and camping with their two young children, Avery and Carter.

To maintain certification, CFP® license holders must complete 30 hours of continuing education accepted by the CFP Board every two years.
